JOB prospects in the North-west are set to be the best in the UK next quarter, according to the Manpower Quarterly Survey of Employment Prospects.
The survey shows that a net balance of 18 per cent of employers in the region will be taking on staff in the period April-June 2003.
This is a quarter-on-quarter increase of seven points and the largest quarter-on-quarter increase across all the regions. Year-on-year it is a decrease of one point, but the North-west is continuing to perform well.
The Manpower survey, now in its thirty-seventh year of publication, asks 2,000 UK companies, across 11 regions and 21 industry sectors, if they expect an increase, decrease or no change in their staffing levels for the quarter ahead.
Janice Henson, Regional Manager for the North-west, said: "Employment prospects are looking healthy for the region.
"Despite the uncertainty of the economic climate, confidence is strong.
"Although the start of the year has been challenging, the numbers of staff out working in the North-west are up over the last couple of months and demand for temporary and permanent staff in the second quarter is solid."
