HORWICH Cycling Club had a successful racing weekend.
Mark Leyland was 15th overall in the 100-mile Manchester two-day event based at Byley and Buxton.
In the Leisure Lakes Summer MTB races, Clare Glore finished fifth in the Under 10s, Andrew Davis was fifth in the U12s, Matt Jones took second place and Sophie Gore fifth in the U14s, while in the Juniors Cal Di Falco finished second.
In the seniors, Clive Warmsley took sixth, Steve Reilly eighth and Dave Headon won the Masters event.
In the youth races at Victoria Park, Southport, Clare Gore took second in the U8s, Sophie Gore finished second in the U10s, Matt Jones finished fourth in the U14s and Liam Worthy took ninth in the U16s.
In the Merseyside Whls 45ml Pimbo Road Race, Andy Brocklehurst, Tim Woods, Denis Keaskin and Graham Shipley all placed equal tenth in the 80 riders sprint.
Next weekend the club has entered a four-man team in the gruelling six-stage Paris-Roubaix VTT mountainbike race over the infamous Hell of the North cobbled roads.
