A MAN who attacked a former friend was given a community rehabilitation sentence and ordered to pay compensation.
Darren Leigh punched his victim David Nagle repeatedly leaving him with a fractured jaw.
Leigh, aged 29, of Turks Road, Radcliffe, appeared at Bolton Crown Court where he admitted assaulting Mr Nagle.
He was sentenced to an 18-month Community Rehabilitation Order with a condition he attend the rigorous Think First Programme and ordered to pay £200 compensation to his victim.
Prosecutor, Guy Mathieson, said that both Leigh and Mr Nagle had been drinking in the Lord Raglan pub in Radcliffe before the incident.
Michael Blakey, defending, said that Leigh and Mr Nagle had been friends since their schooldays, but the pair had fallen out over a loan. Leigh said that he bitterly regretted what had happened that night in the pub.
