A TEENAGER is still in intensive care after being seriously injured in a late night motorcycle accident.
The 15 year-old, and his passenger, were hurt after they crashed into a wall while riding a stolen motorcycle on Wigan Road, Leigh, last weekend. The rider lost control of the 500cc Honda on a bend near The Tamar pub. The pair, who were not wearing crash helmets, were thrown off the bike in Ashby Grove and treated by a fire crew -- returning from a call -- who gave first aid to the unconscious rider.
He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries but later transferred to the intensive care unit at Salford's Hope Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. The passenger, also 15, left the scene but later turned up at Wigan Royal Infirmary where he was treated for head injuries and later discharged.
Police said the motorbike had been stolen and the passenger was bailed on suspicion of unauthorised vehicle taking.
