STRANGE encounters on the East Lancs Road and a haunted Lowton farm feature in author Peter Hough's latest book Supernatural Lancashire due to be published next Thursday.
Peter's 18th title is full of local flavour and includes stories of ghosts, witchcraft and mermaids, close encounters, poltergeists and alien big cats.
The Lowton author explained: "This is a book I've thought about writing for years. Most of my other books have been about international events, but it was very satisfying researching and investigating stories and cases on your own doorstep.
"Many of the places discussed are accessible to the public so readers can visit and see for themselves where supernatural events have unfolded."
Phantom figures at Castle Hill, Newton-le-Willows and the haunting of Cheetham Fold Farm at Lowton, the A580 mysteries and Pendle witch and Chingle Hall tales are included.
