PEOPLE in the North-west voted Monet as their favourite artist with Turner and Van Gogh coming second and third.
The survey, commissioned by PizzaExpress Prospects 2003, a national contemporary art prize, revealed North-west people are passionate about art and spend more than £760 million a year as a result.
Nine out of 10 people in the area have visited an art exhibition, gallery or museum in the past 12 months.
