GREATER Manchester Police received a regional award in recognition of the force's contribution to the European Week of Safety and Health in 2002.
GMP was one of 16 North-west winners to be presented with certificates by celebrity steeplejack Fred Dibnah at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.
Anne Marie Cornwell, GMP's assistant personnel director (health and welfare), said: "Within GMP we strive to ensure that the workplace is a healthy and safe environment and we offer a range of services to managers and staff to assist in minimising stress. Participation in the week was an excellent opportunity for staff involved in the planning of events.
"It also raised awareness of stress amongst the 11,000 staff in GMP."
