A WARNING that a busy road in Westhoughton could become a crash zone has come from a councillor.
Central Drive has become a rat run for motorists and the problems have been made worse by double parking.
Councillor David Wilkinson said Westhoughton council had battled for eight years to try and solve the problems of Central Drive.
"There are two schools, a college and a garage on that road. Residents are complaining because the double parking means they get blocked in on their driveways. We are going to end up with a crash. It will all go terribly wrong."
At the next meeting of the town council on Monday, councillors will urge Bolton Metro highways department to have another look at the road.
"They don't seem to think there is anything wrong. But we have had this problem for several years. It used to be bad at certain times of the day, but now it is all day," added Cllr Wilkinson.
The councillors will be asking highways bosses to look at some traffic schemes to make the road safer.
