FOR the first time, Shakespearian plays will be staged at Hoghton Tower, starting in June.
This is as a result of a collaboration between the Trustees of Hoghton Tower, near Bolton, and the Preston-based theatrical director Dean Taylor. It is believed that Shakespeare spent some of his youth at Hoghton Tower as a tutor and player.
The inaugural production will be Twelfth Night which will run from June 26 to July 12. Arguably Shakespeare's most endearing comedy, the play will be performed in the open air by a cast of experienced professionals.
This production should appeal to lovers of Shakespeare and to those who just fancy a picnic, a bottle of wine and and a relaxed time spent watching Shakespeare in an idyllic place. The performances -- matinees and evenings most days -- will take place within the Tower's courtyards and its gardens near the main house.
Tickets from 01254 851185.
