IT is with some dismay that I read about the continuing debt saga at Bolton Wanderers.
Wanderers arrived in the Premiership two seasons ago with a £30 million debt. We were told there would be little or no transfer money - as the club intended to service the debt, very prudent.
After two years of prudence and Premiership money, the debt has now increased to £40 million. We can only be thankful for such prudence. We are constantly told what the Premiership means financially to Bolton Wanderers but if to stay in the Premiership, we need to spend ALL the money plus a further £10 million then what is the point?
Two seasons of Premiership football has meant a £10 million deficit to our club, the debt is bigger than ever and seemingly growing by the week - the figures reported during the course of this season have been £30 million, £34 million, £35 million and now £40 million.
Being in the "promised land" is obviously not all it's cracked up to be - or just maybe the board are pulling the wool over our eyes.
