CHELSEA 1, Wanderers 0: THE stars and the misfits
WANDERERS
4-3-3
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN ... 8
Made a string of excellent saves, frustrating Hasselbaink in particular, and was even close to denying Cole
ANTHONY BARNESS ... 6
Drafted in for the injured N'Gotty; survived one scare but no joy on his Stamford Bridge return
FLORENT LAVILLE ... 6
Found Cole a real handful and struggled to reach the heights of his recent performances
GUDNI BERGSSON ... 6
Lucky to be able to soldier on after his collision with Hasselbaink; not one of his better days
RICARDO GARDNER ... 6
Defended well then pushed forward as Wanderers chased the equaliser but to little effect
PER FRANDSEN ... 6
Admitted he found the going tough in midfield; looked to have given his all when he was substituted
IVAN CAMPO ... 7
Best of the outfield players - closest to snatching an equaliser with his powerful 35-yard shot
JAY-JAY OKOCHA ... 6
No chance to try his tricks in this company; struggled to create or inspire as in recent games
BERNARD MENDY ... 5
A couple of promising runs but Desailly made sure they came to nothing
HENRIK PEDERSEN ... 5
Full marks for keeping the Chelsea centre-backs occupied but he was starved of service
YOURI DJORKAEFF ... 6
Few chances to make his quality count; had to work hard for every yard he gained
Subs: Simon Charlton (5) for Frandsen 67 mins, Pierre-Yves Andre for Barness 72 mins, Kevin Nolan for Campo 82 mins. Not used: Delroy Facey, Kevin Poole.

Man of the Match
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN
THE mighty Finn has rarely had to make so many saves in recent times but had to be at his best to keep Wanderers in the hunt right to the end. Twice denied Lampard but it was Haaselbaink who was most frustrated.
Magic Moment
HE missed the target but when Djorkaeff bundled the ball wide in the 52nd minute it capped the first spell of concerted pressure on the Chelsea goal and suggested Chelsea might not have it all their own way.
Moan of the Match
THE statistics speak for themselves. They were up against a talented side on their own patch but Wanderers failed to muster a single shot on target and thus were never really in the hunt.
