SWISS athlete Oliver Wirz was in a hurry to win yesterday's Bolton 10km race -- which he took by a staggering two minutes.
The unattatched runner flew immediately home to Switzerland after taking just 31:46 to complete the course, beating Bolton United Harriers' under-20 Chris Busaileh into second place with a fine 33:52.
Oliver was in Bolton to attend a friend's wedding and was due to fly home from Liverpool airport at 2pm. This gave him just enough time to run the Bolton 10K and then get to the airport.
Unfortunately he was in such a rush to get to the airport he did not even have time to attend the prize giving.
The Bolton club took the men's team event with Tony Duffy in fourth place overall and Ian Selby in fifth. David Shaw was another top ten finish in ninth place.
Anne Powell of Leigh Harriers was the ladies' champion in a time of 36:53, but it was Horwich ladies who took the team event just ahead of their Bolton rivals.
Karen Hutchison, Jenny Abbott and Nicola Guffog made up the victorious side, while the Horwich men's team came sixth overall with Trevor Mayren the top finisher in 22nd place.
