Leigh Centurions 58 Rochdale Hornets 30 by Mike Hulme: A HAT-TRICK from record breaking full-back Neil Turley in 10 second half minutes tipped this 16-try extravanganza Leigh's way.
But Turley, who finished with 26 points, was taken to hospital at the final whistle with a suspected fractured ankle and now faces the prospect of a long lay-off.
"While it's nice to win after two sucessive defeats, I can't help but feel sorry for Neil," says Paul Terzis. "He's worked his socks off in the close season to get back to full fitness after a serious back injury - now this."
Turley will miss the two Easter games against Hull KR and Whitehaven as Leigh kick off their league programme.
Rochdale took the lead with a Matt Leigh try before Adam Bristow went over to give Leigh the lead. Damian Ball and Sean Cooper put Hornets 18-6 in front but by half time Leigh had closed the gap with tries from Dale Cardoza and Damian Munro.
Munro's second try gave Leigh the lead early in the second half but Rochdale edged back in front 24-22 with a Lee Wilson try.
Turley's 53rd minuted penalty levelled things up before Cardoza put Rowley in.
Turley's support play brought him three quick-fire tries, then Andy Wallace got another Hornets try before late scores from Leigh's John Duffy and Willie Swann.
