PENNINGTON moved into the final of the BSF Over 35s Sam Ashworth Trophy after beating Seven Stars in their semi-final clash.
They took a two-goal lead early on only for Seven Stars to fight back with one goal but, despite all their efforts, could not find the equaliser to force extra-time.
In Division One, Turton beat Dobbies B 3-0 and Stand Athletics' title hopes all but disappeared with a 1-1 draw with Breightmet United.
Hare Athletic secured the Second Division title with two victories in a week, beating Walkden Wrecks midweek and then Newmarket 3-0 on Sunday.
In Division Three, two wins over Urmston MC saw Old Smithillians move top, but Ainsworth Fossils' 2-0 win over Westhoughton Wingates kept them in touch.
DF Lostock beat Rumworth/Hulton twice this week to move off the bottom and put a serious dent in Rumworth's title challenge.
Two wins over Horwich Town and the Bay Mare Strollers sealed second spot for Hayward Old Boys and Horwich Town remain third after a win and a loss.
A 3-1 midweek win over Seven Stars means the Bay Mare Strollers move off the bottom and out of the relegation spot for the first time this year but it is still very tight at the bottom.
Bottom Bulls Head moved third after beating the Founders Arms 4-1 and Dobbies C beat Walkden AFC 2-1 to end a busy week.
