BOLTON'S Sajid Mahmood found himself in the unexpected position of bowling against Lancashire yesterday as luckless Durham suffered two worrying injury blows.
The 21-year-old was called into the Durham team just before the start of the 50-over match when their seamer Mark Davies pulled up in the nets fearing a repeat of a collapsed lung he suffered two years ago.
Davies was rushed to hospital in an ambulance but released to rejoin his team-mates at Old Trafford later in the afternoon, and was having further tests in the North East today.
Sajid acquitted himself well, denying Mal Loye a maiden Lancashire century by having him caught at mid wicket.
But things went from bad to worse for Durham when their England all-rounder Paul Collingwood fell awkwardly trying to stop an on-drive by Loye, and was
also taken to hospital with a suspected dislocated shoulder .
