POLICE are investigating two cases of wounding in Chorley -- one involving a terrified youngster in Astley Park.
The 12-year-old boy was walking through the popular beauty spot when he was approached by five youths.
They dragged him to the edge of a 20ft ravine where a rope was attached to a tree, saying to him: "If you don't grab the rope we will drop you".
The terrified boy grabbed the rope which the gang pulled tight before making off, leaving him hanging 30 feet from the ground.
But as he tried to get free he fell, breaking his leg and dislocating an ankle.
The gang were 15-16 years old, all around 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build.
The youth who told the boy he would be dropped was wearing a red baseball cap and had a spotty complexion, and was wearing cream and white tracksuit bottoms with Le Coq Sportif written down one leg in blue, and trainers.
The other incident was at the White Hart pub, Mealhouse Lane, Chorley, where a 17-year-old was hit with a pint glass which broke on the side of his face.
A scuffle then broke out before the attacker made off.
The attacker is described as white, about 17-years-old, 5ft 6ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with diagonal stripes, dark trousers and had spikey hair.
The assault took place at 11.45pm on Saturday, April 5.
