CHORLEY can boast more secure car park awards than any other local authority in the North West.
Thirteen out of the town's 14 parking areas have been awarded police secured car park designations.
Specifically re-designed areas, strategically-placed CCTV cameras and increased observation mean drivers have more peace of mind than people in any other town in the region.
Police authorities award the status to car parks that meet strict safety guidelines.
Councillor Danny Gee, Chorley council's executive member for technical services, said: "For motorists, it means that they can leave their vehicle and feel far more confident that they can return to find it still there.
"At the same time, the designs incorporated into out car parks are also intended to cut down on the opportunities for criminal acts against individuals, as well as vandalism generally.
"We have implemented these changes following our best value review process on car parks which identified through a customer survey site security was the second top issue on meeting their needs."
