MORE than 6,000 young people from across Europe and the USA will be descending upon Blackpool and the Pleasure Beach over the Easter weekend for the 2003 Euro-Sportring football tournament.
Teams of budding soccer stars aged between 9-16 years, from across the continents, will be competing for trophies in the Blackpool Pleasure Beach sponsored event.
The fun and football packed weekend kicks off with a party and presentation evening in The Horseshoe at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The Mayor of Blackpool will join in the fun and receive gifts and pennants from the 170 participating teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, Holland, France, Denmark, Belgium, America and Capetown in South Africa.
The football begins in earnest on Friday, with matches being held throughout Saturday and Sunday at the Mechanics Ground, South Shore, and the tournament finals for each age group will be held on Monday at the same venue.
The Mayor along with Brian Robinson, Blackpool Pleasure Beach UK Sales Manager, will present trophies to the winning teams following the final matches.
