THE BSF Rounders League pitted two promoted clubs against each other in the opening fixtures of section A.
Aspull Ladies and Heaton XI took their bow in the senior section with an entertaining match with both sides unafraid to show attacking enterprise.
At half time it all looked to be going Heaton's way as they moved into a strong position with a 100-51 lead.
Yet Aspull came back to mount a stirring comeback in the second innings to snatch winning points with a 159-139 win.
Four games were abandoned because of bad light but in the main the league got off to a good start.
That was not the case for Farnworth and District Vets, however, as they lost their first five batters in five balls against Nationwide without troubling the scorers.
That lead to them being dismissed for a lowly19 runs but they did give their opponents something of a scare when Nationwide lost their four batters - also without scoring.
Fortunately for them they did improve and went on to complete 133 runs in their first innings.
The Vets improved in their second innings but were still dismissed for 74 runs leaving Nationwide winners by an innings 133-93.
Rose Lea appeared to be winners over Imago by 212-210. However, the result was then questioned and checks revealed that Imago were the victors 210-202.
Hatfield XI lost players pre-season but won their first game 156-150 over Royal Hotel.
Jackson's Van Hire were 37 runs adrift of Edgworth at the interval but in a storming second innings won by two runners 201-199.
In the same section K, Cherry Tree Ladies also won by a similar margin 189-187 over Royal Bolton Hospital A.
Handbook alterations: CMB Ladies O section have been forced to change home ground to Beaumont CP school. Also in the same section, 25th Bolton Ladies home ground is now St Bernards.
Carl Chapman will play at St Teresa's school and Qs American Themed Bar at St James, Lucas Road.
