I DO not think postal voting will solve the problem of low turnouts. Perhaps if voting day was on Sunday, it might be more convenient and would not cost £88,000.
Another reason for voter apathy is a lack of confidence in politicians. One MP was claiming £10,000 per year for a house he was not entitled to. His excuse was: "I did not know which was my primary home."
While most pensioners are trying to get by on near worthless pensions, thanks to Gordon Brown's raid in to pension funds, MPs soon realised that there would be a shortfall in their contributions, so they voted themselves an increase from 8per cent to 25 per cent.
Some Euro MPs will also now retire on a pension of £75,000 per year.
Incidentally, my pension increase was £2.79, which was wiped out by the increase in Community Charge.
