I WOULD like to answer "hard-pressed taxpayer" (Wednesday, April 9).
No, the residents of Hall i'th' Wood don't want you or any other taxpayer to pay for CCTV for our estate.
If, by any chance, you understand, when we got the money for these cameras, we were not told there would be a charge. We were told the operators could run them with overtime, forgetting that there were other cameras going in from other estates.
Now, "Mr Hard-Pressed Taxpayer", who the heck do you think is being made to pay? Yes, more taxpayers, to put it simply. If every household on this estate payed 30p a week, it would cover the cost.
Lastly, the comment in Saturday's Bolton Evening News with regard to the council refusing to come to any meetings. I was organising a public meeting and wrote letters to all concerned, but was told by Batra not to have it, but Mr Caswell and Mr Spencer would come and talk to a small group. This meeting did take place.
