CHRIS Busaileh took an excellent second place from a field of over 400 in last weekend's Bolton 10K.
The 18-year-old Bolton Harrier was backed up by top veteran Tony Duffy and Ian Selby as Bolton Harriers scooped the award for first team.
The race was won by surprise entry Oliver Wirz of Switzerland, who was in the area for a wedding the previous evening.
Wirz was never headed as his competitors started slowly in windy conditions but Busaileh eventually gave pursuit and this took him clear in second.
For former World Veteran Marathon champion Duffy, it was a solid return to competition after months out injured, as he finished fourth overall and won the Over 45 category.
A former Great Britain international, Duffy would normally have been pounding the streets of London in the marathon, where he has been one of the leading veterans in recent years.
The women's race was won impressively by Leigh Harrier Ann Powell, with the first home athlete Bolton's 1500m specialist Liz Proctor.
There was also veteran success for Jim McNulty, who once again triumphed in the Over 65 category, while Harriers also provided the event's oldest competitor in Over 75 winner Hamish McPherson.
