A TEACHER'S union chief has called on the education secretary to review the current national curriculum testing arrangements.
Doug McAvoy General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, has called on Education Secretary Charles Clarke to commission an independent review of the tests.
The call comes after a select committee report questioned whether constant testing and assessment raises standards in school
Mr McAvoy added that the curriculum is being damaged because teachers and young people are forced to concentrate only on that which is tested and not on other vital aspects of learning.
