BEAT bobby PC Andrew Wright has been rewarded for his dedication to the community he works in.

PC Wright, who covers the Mosley Common area and part of Tyldesley, received the prestigious Wigan Metropolitan Trophy from Greater Manchester Chief Constable Michael Todd.

His community work through contact with schools and weekly surgeries has been judged to have had a significant impact.

He helped stage a series of "stranger danger" plays and assists with school activities.

following his training programme as a community sport leader.

The Wigan Metropolitan Borough Trophy is presented annually to the officer who in the past year has done most for community care through on and off duty efforts.
