WEST Ham are playing down the significance of Saturday's survival showdown at the Reebok, insisting it will decide nothing!
A win would put Wanderers six points clear of Glenn Roeder's Hammers with just four games to play but Joe Cole claims they could still make up the deficit.
"Although it is a massive game it is not all or nothing as there will still be plenty of football to play," the midfield ace maintained.
Nevertheless, Cole is fully aware that the outcome of the season's 34th fixture will have a major bearing on who joins Sunderland, who are already relegated, and West Brom, who appear doomed, in the drop to the Nationwide League.
"It will be the biggest match I have ever played in and we just have to get the right result," he acknowledged. "With five games to go we know we can pick up enough points to survive. We have to play well over the full 90 minutes."
With Wanderers holding a far superior goal difference, the Hammers will travel to the Reebok knowing that, barring a huge victory, they will remain in the bottom three.
But they are confident that their recent form and remaining fixtures still gives them the edge.
After Saturday they face Middlesbrough and Chelsea at Upton Park and away games at Manchester City and Birmingham while Wanderers are away to Blackburn and Southampton and home against Arsenal and Middlesbrough.
Gareth Farrelly is back at the Reebok after a five-game loan spell at First Division Rotherham.
Disappointed Millers' boss Ronnie Moore could not afford to keep the Ireland midfielder and admitted: "I feel like tearing my hair out sometimes but with the finances of the club we can't afford it, especially with us now safe.
Wanderers' reserve striker Michael Bird has joined Aberdeen on a week trial.
