CONSERVATION experts from Lancashire County Council are taking action to save one of the country's rarest trees.
It is estimated that only 200 Black Poplars, which provided the backdrop to Constable's masterpiece, The Haywain, still exist in the county.The county council has planted special saplings at Brockholes Quarry, near Preston.
