TAKE your partners -- for the modern jive. Dozens of dancers will be jiving the day away on Saturday, May 3, on the square next to Bolton Market Place.
The members of Barnside Jive are hoping to spread the word about the dance which is taking the area by storm.
Glynis van Dijk, one of the organisers, said they had a thriving jive group which met at Barnside Avenue, Walkden, on Thursdays from 7.30pm, and were planning to start classes at Bradford West Labour Club on May 6, at 7.30pm.
"It is the modern form of jive, not the rock and roll type. It started in this country in the 80s and can be done to all types of music -- we play lots of chart music, including Kylie Minogue," said Glynis.
The five hour show from 11pm to 4pm will feature more than 20 dancers.
Glynis, who took up the jive 12 months ago, said: "It is a great form of exercise, and we have people aged from 20 to 60 at our classes."
