INFANT hedgehogs made up almost half of all baby mammal admissions into the RSPCA's wildlife hospital in Manchester, according to figures.
The RSPCA says the best course of action for the well-meaning public is to leave the baby mammals alone.
Baby hedgehogs often suffer from stress by being handled and may even die when released back into the wild.
