RANGERS recorded a fine victory in their last league game of the season after withstanding an early onslaught from Cuthberts.
Rangers lifted their game and the pack started running the ball in strongly and tackling aggressively no more so than John Cookson who was all over the field.
Young hooker Richard Wareing opened Rangers account when he nipped over for a fine try. Lee Beresford added the extras to put Rangers 6-4 ahead.
Cuthberts then scored another try but Berrisford knocked over a penalty just before the break to make the half-time score 8-8.
In the second period Rangers went straight at their opponents with some good runs by Jaime Pedley and Neil Talbot but it was the impressive Cookson who broke through the defence and outpaced the cover in a 60-yard run to the line.
Berrisford added the conversion to make the score 14-8. Cuthberts were not finished and levelled the score with a converted try.
The match winning try came when Stuart Walsh scattered some would be tacklers before crashing over.
This was a good performance from all the Rangers players with the man-of-the-match award going to Lee Berrisford just ahead of Stuart Walsh and Richard Wareing.
