YOUNG gardeners are being asked to create a garden based on a favourite story or author for this year's Southport Flower Show.
Three winners will see their designs blossom and have a chance to meet Prof David Bellamy, a patron of the show.
Children from more than 2,200 primary schools across the region have been invited to enter. The winning garden will be recreated at this summer's show in Victoria Park.
Last year's winner was ten-year-old Stacey Henniker from St Gregory's School, Farnworth, whose courtyard design earned £500 which bought a 100-year-old 14-feet high tree fern for her school.
Entries can be sent to Southport Flower Victoria Park, Rotten Row, Southport PR8 2BZ by June 18 2003. For more details call 01704 547147.
