ENGINEERING firm AMEC, which has a major office in Adlington, has been granted The Queen's Award for International Trade.
The honour is in recognition of the company's outstanding performance -- principally in the oil, gas, petrochemical and processing industries -- over the last three years.
Its entry for the Queen's Award was submitted by its UK-based operating subsidiary AMEC Group Ltd.
Chief executive David Robson said: "I am delighted that our strategic vision to grow AMEC's business in selected international markets, while maintaining our market-leading position in the UK, has been recognised with this award.
"It is as a result of the hard work and professionalism of many thousands of dedicated people across our entire business. We are all very proud of this achievement."
AMEC employs 50,000 people throughout the UK, Europe, North America and some 40 countries.
In addition to Adlington, its other major UK offices include Birchwood, Liverpool and Northwich.
