IN the 1997 General Election when Chorley Labour MP Lindsay Hoyle was first elected, he was pleased to hand out his red pledge cards saying what a Labour government would do for us all.
So I am surprised that despite all the monies being, apparently, paid into the NHS, Chorley Hospital has declared that at the latest date available (December 31, 2001), there were 50 more non-medical staff employed --up to 1,200 -- 30 more medical and dental staff -- up to 160 -- but 100 fewer qualified nursing, midwifery and health visiting staff down to 600.
The net effect, therefore, is 20 fewer staff than when the Labour government came to power.
Just how much time does this Labour government want, or are all the resources going to Preston?
