I am writing to encourage your female readers to get their feet moving and take part in Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, a unique series of women-only 5 km walks or runs, sponsored by Tesco.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Race for Life and, to mark the occasion, we are hoping to raise £17.5 million -- our highest target ever -- but we can't do it without the support of your female readers.
To help us celebrate and reach this target, we are hoping that more women than ever will hot-foot it to their local Race for Life event -- one of 130 taking place throughout the UK, between May and July.
Every year, more than 130,000 women are diagnosed with cancer and many participants in Race for Life take part in memory or celebration of someone in their life who has been touched by cancer. The focus is not on competing, but taking part at your own pace, and the atmosphere is always fantastic, with many women joining up with colleagues and friends -- some even wear fancy dress to stand out among the crowd!
Race for Life is one of the nation's most important fundraising events, raising over £35 million towards treating, curing and preventing cancers that affect women. Already, thanks in part to these funds, new treatments are being developed and lives are being saved.
All the information interested readers need is available at: www.raceforlife.org or by calling the dedicated Race for Life hotline on 08705 134 314, which was launched on February 18.
So don't get cold feet! Join the Race for Life in its special anniversary year!
Thank you to your readers in advance.
