EAGLEY won the West Lancs League's coveted Richardson Cup when they overcame champions elect Charnock Richard 2-1 at Leyland.
Eagley should have gone in front on 20 minutes when Carl Grimshaw's close range effort was superbly saved by Charnock keeper Barry Edge.
On 35 minutes Eagley lost Tony Burnett through injury but should have gone ahead when a Neil Mathews' header just shaved the post.
The deadlock was finally broken on 60 minutes when Eagley's Rob Howarth crashed the ball home after the keeper had parried a close range Mel Bentham header away from goal. Eagley were now in control but were stunned when Charnock equalised through John Hyde on 78 minutes. The Bolton side, however, kept their cool and on 80 minutes they were justly rewarded when Chris Williams curled the ball in from 35 yards to win the trophy and delight manager Pete Darby and their army of travelling fans.
