HALLIWELL Conservatives Snooker Club have potted a hat-trick with three generations of the same family in their squad.
The side have included Norman Jones, his son Keith and 16-year-old grandson Dale among their ranks since the latter made his debut against Breightmet last month.
Norman, aged 64, has been playing snooker for 50 years and has hit a top break of over 90, although never quite made the century.
But he eventually sat out the Breightmet game to give Dale the opportunity to make his first start.
And Jones junior made a winning start in the fixture, which put him one up on Keith, aged 38, who was beaten.
Norman, from Smithills, said: "Dale was a little bit nervous before the Breightmet game because he had not played at that standard before, but he won his game so he can handle it. I was glad to sit out but now I want all three of us to play together.
"It's great that we are all involved now. I'm really glad Dale is playing, it's good for young people to have interests.
"Mind you, snooker was seen as a mis-spent youth in my time.
"I have been playing since I was 14 years old and have played at a pretty high standard. Keith followed me, and I suppose Dale must have just caught the bug in the same way."
