A KEARSLEY pub landlord is £5,000 richer after beating a computer at darts.
Douglas Stoneley-Hulme, landlord of the Pubmaster-owned Antelope was the first person to achieve a nine dart checkout -- to get from 501 to 0 within nine darts -- while playing 'Phil Taylor's World Championship Darts' national tournament game on the pub's 'itbox' gaming machine. Former world darts champion Phil Taylor visited the pub to present Douglas with his cheque.
The tournament was staged in pubs across the UK. More than 220,000 plays were recorded on the machines before Douglas's winning nine-dart checkout.
"My girlfriend and I are expecting a baby this August, so we have to decided to spend the money on things we need for the baby -- and a round of drinks in the pub," said Douglas.
