Wanderers are suffering the agony of fresh relegation pressure after savouring the ecstasy of a famous comeback against champions Arsenal.
West Ham's late winner at Manchester City has breathed new life into the Hammers' survival hopes and taken the wind out of drop zone rivals Wanderers, Leeds and Aston Villa.
Wanderers almost did not have time to catch their breath after coming back from two goals down to stun the Gunners at The Reebok Stadium on Saturday before Frederic Kanoute's late goal threw the Premiership relegation scrap back wide open. Wanderers looked as if they had put themselves in a good position to steer clear of the trouble with a stirring performance and potentially crucial point against Arsenal.
That left West Ham looking as if they needed to win their three remaining games to overtake the Whites but Kanoute's goal nine minutes from time on Sunday has now given them real hope.
They are currently two points behind Wanderers as they go into the last two games at home to Chelsea followed by a last day trip to Birmingham.
But if they lose to Chelsea, Wanderers will go into their evening game at Southampton knowing that a point could be good enough to stay in the Premiership because of their superior goal difference.
