A FORMER Chorley footballer is being investigated by police over allegations of rape and threats to kill.

Wrexham player Lee Trundle, missed the Division Three game on Saturday due to police questioning.

A club spokesman said the top scorer, from Liverpool, was missing the match for 'personal reasons.'

Merseyside Police revealed the investigation began following allegations of rape, harassment, threats to kill and false imprisonment by a woman over the weekend.

Trundle, 26, is a favourite with the Wrexham fans and began his career playing non-league football in Chorley. He is on police bail.
