CHORLEY emerged comfortable winners from this derby clash which finished before the final whistle had been blown in the Magpies' match at Stockbridge!
With Stephen John in the side after missing the opening fixture against Netherfield due to visa difficulties, Chorley had the cutting edge lacking in their first outing.
Having been put in by Chorley captain Jim Fazackerley, the Motors innings was soon in shreds.
Bill Smith made the first breakthrough, brother Tom taking the catch offered by Baines before Patel was comically run out.
Smith then struck again shattering professional Ashraf's stumps before John grabbed his first wicket of the new season, Ugrader edging to Neil Senior.
The Chorley professional then ripped through the remainder of the batting with a last wicket stand of 16 between Lilley and Prince proving to be the biggest in the visitors' meagre total.
John with 6 for 28 as the Motors innings lasted a mere hour and three-quarters.
With rain threatening, Smith and Mawdesley set about the small target in positive fashion. There was to be no success for any of the six bowlers used by Motors as the fifty came up in even time.
Tom Smith followed up his sensational ton the previous week with seven boundaries in his unbeaten 37.
Ian Mawdesley was equally positive with half a dozen boundaries and an unorthodox six over the keeper's head in his 40 not out as Chorley raced to 12 points within 18 overs.
On Saturday Chorley travel to Fleetwood and on Monday are at home to St Annes.
Tom Smith has been selected for the England Under 19 team. The team is currently playing a Kent CCC Second XI at Canterbury and will face face a test series against South Africa Under 19s.
Final score: Leyland Motors 84
Chorley 86 for 0
