A 10K RACE around Manchester is to be dedicated to the memory of policeman Stephen Oake who was killed investigating a potential terrorist incident in January.
The Manchester YMCA Harriers' traditional race will start at the town hall in Albert Square and finish at the Castlefield Arena, off Liverpool road. There will be cash prizes for the first 20 male and female finishers as well as team prizes.
Graham Jackson, of the Harriers, said: "Stephen Oake's death was absolutely tragic.
He was a dedicated policeman who was carrying out his duty to protect the people of Manchester and we feel it is entirely appropriate to commemorate his memory by dedicating this traditional Manchester event to him."
Entry forms can be obtained from Mr Jackson on 0161 740 72277 or www.manyharrier.vo.uk.
The closing date is June 16, 2003.
