THE new Chairman of Governors at Bolton Institute is Professor Iqbal Memon.
The professor has been an Institute governor for two years and has also studied at the institute.
He is a medical practitioner based with the Preston Primary Care NHS Trust and he holds senior medical positions including medical referee for Preston City Council, and Medical Referee to Lancashire County Council, Adoption and Fostering Panel.
At the Institute he has worked on several committees including the Student Welfare Group and Bolton enterprise and Nominations Committee.
Prof Memon, aged 51, is also a tireless worker to foster community harmony and integration, being a founder member of the Community Partnership initiative, the Council for Multicultural Studies Centre which is based at the institute.
He originally qualified in Pakistan and did his medical postgraduate training in the UK.
He lives in Darwen with his wife, Lorraine, and they are active members of the Bolton and Lancashire communities.
