I REALLY wish Arthur Ashton the best of luck with his efforts to get traffic speed reduced to 30 mph on Grimeford Lane, The Citizen April 16.
But experience tells me that if the speed is reduced it will not make a blind bit of difference to the attitude of the speeders.
I have lived in Babylon Lane for two years, and even though this has a 30 mph speed limit, in that time I have witnessed various accidents, at least one fatal, caused by drivers not adhering to the speed limit.
For the past couple of years, myself and other residents have badgered our councillors and Chorley Council for some form of traffic calming measures to be introduced, ie cameras, speed humps, traffic lights etc, and for the past couple of years we have been ignored!
We have even sent a petition to the council pleading for help in combating this modern day scourge and still nothing has been done. I personally have written to the council and councillors and all I can say is nothing has changed.
But you never know, Mr Ashton, now that the local elections are here you just may be listened to, somehow I suspect you will. Good luck.
A P Bennett, Babylon Lane, Adlington.
