MANCHESTER United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leeds United have joined clubs who have set up after-school study centres to help children with the "three Rs".
Research has shown the Playing For Success scheme helped the average maths age of secondary pupils by two years.
More than 60,000 children have used the centres since the scheme was launched by Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1997.
