MATCH of the day in the Pioneer Sunday League was the top table Division One clash between leaders Lion and second place Royal Hotel that decided the championship.
Lion went in front from Fitzmorris before Sheehan got their second. Royal pushed on but missed a number of chances. A further goal came from Clegg and Hall clinched a 4-2 victory to earn Lion the title.
Sharples and Masons had to settle for a point each in a 1-1 draw. Stokes was on target for Masons and Robinson replied for Sharples.
Faux Forest had an excellent 2-1 victory at home against Horwich St Mary's with goals from Taylor and a super strike from 30 yards from Scott Forshaw. Horwich replied from Roberts in the only Premier Division game.
Hulton Lane had a 2-1 victory over King William with goals from Moss.
