THE historical Wigan Pier Experience has been nominated for a prestigious national Group Travel Award.
The museum based tour, which brings Industrial Victorian Wigan to life, is the only North West attraction to be nominated in the 2003 Group Travel Awards.
The Wigan Pier Experience is one of seven finalists in the category of "Best Attraction for Group Visits," and will go head to head with attractions such as the London Eye, Shakespeare Globe and Tower Bridge Experience.
Carole Tyldesley, Wigan Pier Manager, said: "We are delighted to be nominated for such a prestigious award and it makes it even more special to all at the Wigan Pier Experience to have been nominated by Group Travel Organisers around the UK.
"We are up against some of the top attractions in the UK and this is a huge achievement for all the staff here."
The awards, hosted by Group Travel Organiser Magazine, will be presented on Thursday at the Hilton Hotel in London.
