work has been carried out to transform a former successful Bolton town centre catering business into offices.
The Sandwich Inn, on Churchgate, shut its doors in December after serving customers for 34 years when owners Peter and Dorina Green and her brother Bruno Sabini retired.
Over the last few weeks workmen have gutted the interior of the premises, removing the kitchen facilities to make way for office space, which is still on the market to be let. There had been catering establishments on the premises for 112 years and the former temperance bar was acquired by the Italian Sabini family 70 years ago.
Dorina and Bruno have worked there all their lives. It became the Sandwich Inn when Peter married Dorina in 1968.
Peter, aged 63, and Dorina, aged 62, still live above the premises and feel the shop should be let out as an office rather than a retail or catering outlet.
