THE father of vice girl Danielle Moorcroft is visiting the scene of his daughter's murder to urge the Bolton public to help police catch her killer.

It is only the second time Kevin Moorcroft, aged 47, has visited the Bolton car park where 21-year-old Danielle was battered to death just over a year ago.

He travelled to Bolton from his Liverpool home with his wife, Danielle's step-mother Christine Moorcroft, to lay flowers at the scene.

Mr Moorcroft was also due to thank murder squad detectives for their efforts so far.

Det Insp Pete Jackson, of Bolton CID, said: "Mr Moorcroft is confident that someone in Bolton knows who murdered his daughter Danielle. So are we.

"He was due to visit the scene of the murder today to lay flowers at the spot where his daughter lost her life. He was appealing for anyone with any information to contact us."

Danielle -- a heroin addict -- was five months' pregnant when she was found dead at the back of Bolton Community College, off Lower Bridgeman Street, at 5.40am on Saturday June 1 last year. She had been hit repeatedly over the head.

Detectives have recovered DNA evidence from the scene and from Danielle's body, enabling them to quickly eliminate suspects from the investigation.

Det Insp Jackson added: "We need people to put forward names for anyone who might have been in that area at the time. We are particularly interested in speaking to a man carrying a rucksack who was walking in the area.

"All information given to us will be treated with the strictest of confidence."

Mr Moorcroft's appeal comes after television sleuth Caroline Quentin appealed for witnesses on the first anniversary of the murder earlier this month.

She joined detectives at Bolton's Castle Street Police Station to research for her role in the recent two-part television drama Blue Murder.

Danielle's mother Mary also vowed that she would not rest until her daughter's killer was caught, saying: "How dare someone do this to my daughter."

A £10,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Contact Castle Street Police Station on 0161 856 5961.
