A WANNABE singer from Bolton had TV talent show judges in fits of laughter following an over the top performance of R Kelly's hit "I Believe I can Fly."

Millions watched 21-year-old Suleman Khan's disastrous audition on ITV1's popular talent show programme Pop Idol on Saturday evening.

Suleman went to the Manchester audition dressed like a character from blockbuster film The Matrix. Wearing a floor length black leather coat and dark sunglasses, he performed the song while doing a bizarre dance routine in which he nodded his head like a hen and used his arms to 'fly.'

When Suleman insisted the audience would love him, Cowell, the show's 'Mr Nasty', told him: "With respect, the audience can actually hear."

Judges Pete Waterman, Nicki Chapman, Neil Fox and Simon Cowell struggled not to laugh during the toe-curling performance.

When Suleman insisted the audience would love him, Cowell, the show's 'Mr Nasty', told him: "With respect, the audience can actually hear."

Despite being told he was not going through to the next round, Suleman refused to take no for an answer and argued with the judges for a full ten minutes, believing he could talk them round.

As he left the audition room, Suleman remained convinced that his dream of becoming rich and famous would one day come true.

He told judges: "I can't wait until I'm rich and famous and you're asking for my autograph."

Suleman may not have impressed Pop Idol Judges but he did make an impression on the national press.

One national newspaper included Suleman in the Save Our Flop Idol campaign, which involves readers voting for the 'worst screamer' on the show out of a choice of 16 specially selected auditionees.

Whoever gets the most votes wins singing lessons.
