ON reading the letter from Katrina Oldham (November 13) about vandalism, arson and terrorism around various areas of Bolton.
Would it be a good idea to give each stricken area in town a "peaceful weekend"? Invite some Royal personage into the vicinity -- the police numbers would escalate, the graffiti would be erased, litter tidied up, and any would-be vandal, however old, taken into custody.
The Royals are of course a select and superior people, but I'm sure they would be ready to give their subjects, now and then, "havens of peace" the Bolton authorities don't seem to be able to provide.
