IHAVE never heard so much rubbish in all my life. Bolton was a mill town known worldwide, with its fame and prestige being created from its industry.
This is something to be proud of and proclaimed from the top of every chimney left standing.
The image of cloth caps and smoking chimneys portrays honesty, endeavour, trust and tolerance, which one should never be ashamed of.
To be a true Boltonian makes the heart beat faster.
Being unfamiliar with the workings and secrecies of the council chambers, I would have thought that all the participants' time would have been fully involved with the resolving of more important matters, ie the decline of the once famous market, high town centre parking fees, the cleanliness of the streets, the town being saturated with alcoholic establishments, the lack of town centre quality shops, and the shortage of toilets.
These will not disappear with any change of name.
